Eating disorders are not limited to a specific gender. This is a fact, and researches prove that both males and females suffer from different types of eating disorders. Being a male myself, I believe that it is mainly due the association of males with being stronger and less vulnerable. I believe that due to this, and other factors such as society's misinterpretation of male and female roles, that males feel obligated to have a strong front and not be vulnerable.
Our society has a mindset that men are strong and do not have small and petty issues. People regard eating disorders for a weak person. This is why men hesitate to confirm that they have eating disorders.
Eating disorders are considered a female issue so men don't come forward with their problems.
Eating disorders in men aren't addressed by the society, so they hesitate in accepting they have this problem.
