On Wednesday, 10th February 2021, our team arranged an awareness program in our school. O level students from grades 9, 10, and 11 attended the session in which we informed our audience about our topic, eating disorders in men.
Novra Babar started the session by introducing our topic and talking about what eating disorders are, and their types:
Filza Ghalib then came up the stage and inform the audience about eating disorders in males. she also talked about the cultural perspective of Pakistan; how Pakistan has been dealing with eating disorders, and why this issue hasn't been given much consideration.
Next, Tooba Shoaib enlightened the audience about the cultural perspective of the USA, and the courses of action. She briefed the audience on methods of spreading awareness and ways of getting recognition by people, as well as the treatment of eating disorders (both in males and females).
A question and answers session was also held. Students came forward with their queries, and the team members were successful in clearing their misconceptions, answering them satisfactorily:
In the end, we requested our audience to sign our poster and leave comments on it, and visit our website and Instagram page. Their response was extremely encouraging:
Overall, our awareness program was a success. Even if it took place at a small-scale level, we were able to convey our message and spread awareness regarding eating disorders in males.
This was really satisfactory. I was even present in the audience. It was really informative!!
