Welcome to Ikigai, our team's project that aims to create awareness and clear misconceptions regarding one of the gravest topics nowadays- Eating disorders.
The Ikigai team, including Filza Ghalib, Tooba Shoaib, Khadija Imam, and Novra Babar proudly present to you, the outcome of our global perspectives team project for the Cambridge Examinations.
A lot of people with eating disorders are obsessed with their body image, and are captivated with an urge to look "thin".
Statistics show that around 25% of people with eating disorders are males, this clears the misconception that men are also affected by eating disorders.
A lot of people tend to think that people with eating disorders choose to have them. This perception is completely wrong, as eating disorders are serious metal illnesses.
Men hesitate to admit that they have eating disorders because the society considers it as a female problem.
Time has come that this misconception is cleared. Accept men with eating disorders.
Ikigai aims to clear the misconception that eating disorders are only found in females. Whether you have been personally affected by an eating disorder, or want to help someone with one, be aware that both males AND females are struggling with anorexia nervosa, bulimia, orthorexia, purge eating and many more.
